Celebrate Summer Challenge with the Library! Are you planning to go boating or swimming this summer? Learn water safety practices to help keep you and your family safe this summer. #summerchallenge
One of the best parts about summertime is going swimming in the pool, floating on the river, boating on the lake, or playing in the ocean. While fun, being cautious around swimming pools or bodies of water should always be your top priority. Did you know that Missouri has averaged over 46 non-boating related drownings per year on streams, rivers, ponds and lakes over the past five years. Those numbers do not include drownings that occurred in swimming pools.
Does your family know how to properly wear their life jackets? How do you keep your family safe on a boat during the heavy boating season like the 4th of July and Labor Day weekend. Should you go swimming when flooding occurs? The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be here to educate people on water safety practices, how to properly wear life jackets, what to do when it floods, and safe boating practices. They will also show videos of water operations and more.
If you need accommodations for this class, please try to contact the Library at least fourteen days before the class, or immediately after registering.
